Deep Time Walk, Innsbruck

Deep Time Walk
Take a 4.6 km walk through 4.6 billion years of Earth’s history. A reflective journey that connects you with the story of our planet and your place within it.

Each step, one million years.

The Deep Time Walk is a transformative walking experience that invites you to journey through Earth’s 4.6-billion-year story, from the planet’s fiery beginnings to the present moment. As we walk, we’ll explore how life has evolved, how climate has shifted, and how every living system is deeply connected.

This isn’t a science lecture or a tour. It’s a participatory experience. Think of it as a moving meditation through time. Along the way, we’ll pause to reflect, share insights in pairs and small groups, and consider what it means to live at this moment in planetary history.

As you travel through deep time, you’ll be invited to sense the vastness of Earth’s story beneath your feet and the fragility of the present moment we now inhabit. It’s a humbling, awe-filled experience that often leaves people with a renewed sense of care for the living world and for each other.

The walk takes place outdoors along an accessible route, with moments of conversation, silence, and reflection woven throughout. We close by returning to the present day, and to the question of what kind of ancestors we wish to become.
