Who?
I am an Innsbruck-based, South African born, urban explorer, facilitator, and storyteller. For as long as I can remember, I have been using urban walks as a vehicle to wake people up and challenge them to look at the cities, neighbourhoods and urban spaces in which they live. I am not a tour guide: I don’t talk about landmarks or history. I create walks that invite you to look at the crack in the pavement, to notice the architectural feature that you’ve walked past 100 times, to imagine possible futures, to speak to someone new about a topic you know everything – or nothing – about.
Over the years, I have run walks in Tirol, across Europe, and in both South Africa and the USA. I created Ways to Walk in 2022 as a container for the many walks and walkshops I create and offer. Previous (and sometimes parallel) projects include Walk the Futures, Scent in the City, and Zu Fuss in Tirol, which is now a partner of Zu Fuss in Oesterreich.
My background is in communication, imagination, and facilitation, and my 20+ years of international experience shapes my perspectives and how I work with groups. When not running urban walks, I help scientists share their research at SciComm Success, and I create experiential futures and deliver futures and foresight workshops for cities and organisations.
And I am passionate about storytelling: I am a traditional, oral storyteller and I can be found telling wise, wonder-ful, and witty tales to (mostly) adult audiences around Europe.
I am always open to collaborating and “playing together” on interesting projects as a playmate, partner, advisor, coach, mentor, or consultant. As a professional facilitator and moderator, I host workshops, panels, and conferences. Occasionally, I deliver presentations and talks, too.
